Columbia chrome needles, wear

Got me six 6-packs (36 needles) Columbia chromium shadow-graphed needles on ebay for $3 which I thought was a decent deal. : ))

Are chromium needles like these and Victor's simply chrome-plated, or is the entire needle made of some kind of chromium alloy(?) I don't know if these are essentially identical to Victors or not, but wondering what experience chrome needle users have with them. The packs say 25 sides playable per needlesbut they are probably talking about 40s records with no abrasive in them, right? Danke! - - Mark

Yeah, those were meant for lighter pickups. I wouldn't trust them on a victrola of any kind for more than a couple plays per, if that. I have some, but I never use them.
