And Sean - I know how you feel about the Murray side, having heard it myself I can agree with you on that one!
Egad, I forgot about those Paul Whiteman picture discs, on which I spent about $150 each! "Night at the Biltmore" and "Let Them Eat Cake"...

Looks really beautiful, Adam! Are these the 78 version or the later Transcription Disc version?

I don't make a habit of buying expensive records, but I'll confess to bouts of temporary insanity and buying a few. I bought on eBay a near-mint copy of Leo Slezak on Edison Blue Amberol. There were a lot of bidders and I paid (gasp!) $200 for it. A year later, the same title came up again, starting at $10. It seemed futile, but I thought what the heck and placed a bid for $50. Imagine my surprise (I was the only bidder) to win it for $10. Just as clean, too.

The most I spent on a records is $ 50,- One time I spent it on a mint condition copy of The Victor Artists Party (one of the 1st long playing records), and I've also got a Berliner record that cost me about the same.

So no excessive prices, but I noticed that the average price I spend on records is increasing. I buy mostly on Ebay and from Nauck's, and lately I've been paying between $ 10-20 per record (not including high shipping costs and, sometimes, import duties).

These are 12" 78s. The laminated surfaces are problematic, causing some rim flaking and generally noisy surfaces.

At least with Nauck's, they grade above the bar. You get nice copies, so, it can pay off.
