Capitol phono lamp on Real Deal
Anyone know who "Brad" is that was on the most recent episode of Real Deal (History Channel)? Brad brought a Capitol phono-lamp that was auctioned off for far less than he wanted for it. He stated that he was a "big time" collector of phonographs.

I'm pretty sure he's on this board if memory serves me correctly...

First time I saw that show. The phonograph played horribly but seemed like
someone got a good deal if you wanted one of those.

I searched it up on YouTube and in the comments Antique1973 or someone like that stated that it was them on the show. If I can remember correctly they are on the forum.

Hi guys, its me. I have been so busy I have not been on the board much lately. I should have taken
the dealer's offer but thought I would do better at auction. Guess there were not many phono collectors
in the crowd. Its ok though I still made a little money on it and it was a fun experience regardless.
Hopefully it will spur some more interest in the great hobby of phonograph collecting.

I agree, the record was badly scrached. I brought a good record with me but they needed one that was public domain.Skihawx wrote:First time I saw that show. The phonograph played horribly but seemed like

One of the producers grabbed one at a local thrift store just before the shoot.

Yeah, I am pretty certain Ebay would have done better. Its always tough to say though, I know that
prices were in the decline just before the show. There was one that went for around $1000 on Ebay (although in rougher
condition) just before the show so I should have taken heed I suppose. I made a little money at the auction
but considering the labor involved, there was little compensation for that. Restoration labor is not always
compensated but I still enjoy working on my machines so for me its fun and part of the hobby.

Brad - how did you get hooked up with the show? I'd love to hear the back story.
