New member as of today!

Post by robertr44 »

Hello everyone,

I am pleased to have found your very informative Forum.
I have been interested in acoustic machines since I was a teenager.
I currenty have a 1911 Columbia "Favorite" Graphonola in great condition. The motor was rebuilt about 15 years ago by the Antique Phonograph Co. located in New York. The original Concert Grand Reproducer has been rebuilt. Doesn't sound too bad. I also have another Columbia reproducer #6 that I interchange sometimes.

I also have a 1913 VV-XVI model which I enjoy immensely!
I really enjoy buying the older records from the early 1900's to play on both machines.

I also have a VV-IV which I rarely use.

I retired early in 2006 from the home health care field as HR Director. I also was a Licensed Massage therapist for 20+ years.

I hope I have not bored you all too much. Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I look forward to learning from everyone! :D

Yes, welcome! In what part of the country do you live, out of curiosity?

Welcome, Robert! Your background is not boring at all - - There are several of us retirees on this forum. I retired from the State of New York a couple of years ago after 32 years as a Speech/Language Pathologist. Now I'm "working" 15-17 hours a week as an SLP with geriatrics in a rehab facility. That leaves plenty of time for antique phonographs...

Sounds like you need to find a cylinder machine now!

Thank you all for the welcome to the forum!
I am located in south Florida, Palm Beach County to be exact.
I look forward to learning a few thinks from the group :D
BTW, I listen to my machines at least 20 minutes a day. I really feel better after that, LOL!
All the best to everyone,

Bob
