I had the phonolamp on the Los Angeles CL and the producers contacted me though my ad. I thought it was some kind of scam at first but the company checked out. They asked if I would like to sell the item on the History channel and I
agreed since I am a History channel nut anyways. I had to make a screen test video talking about the phonolamp and they looked it over for about 3 weeks. The weird thing is they asked me to bring the phonolamp to a storage in LA without confirming if I would be on the show! I knew it was for real though when I saw all the cool antiques in the storage. I then signed a contract and it was a done deal. There were two days of shooting, one for the dealer scene and another for the auction. The auction night was pretty rough since I was in the last group to go to the auction house. We were stuck at a nice hotel but I met some interesting people there so it was worth it. Its worth noting that although the transactions were real, my tv personality has little to do with my real personality. Whether that qualifies as acting is of course a matter for public evaluation! : )

Oddly enough, I was just contacted by the producer of a show called "Hardcore Pawn" to try to sell a machine I have posted on Craigslist as well. I'm curious to see where this goes.

That sounds like fun. Lots of drama on that show so pretty much anything goes. Good luck and keep us posted!

That's very interesting! I never would have thought that they'd go through CL to get people on the show. Pretty smart.

antique1973, your episode of "Real Deal" is on again Friday at 8pm Central, 9pm Eastern... so I'll be watching!
Sounds great, thanks for watching the show!
