Pathé Salon

Post by briankeith »

A Pathé Salon cylinder phonograph: Where can one find some historical information on this unusual French made machine which can play both regular and the larger "Salon" record cylinders?

I have no information on that specific model myself, but you should seek copies of The Illustrated History of the Phonograph by Daniel Marty, and A World of Antique Phonographs by Fabrizio & Paul. Both of these volumes deal extensively with European phonographs.

This looks like a Pathé "1". What I find interesting is the reproducer which is a Pathé style but marked with the word "Polyglotte". It leads me to believe this may have been a Pathé supplied language phonograph for the French market.

It's an interesting machine!
