Phonograph wish list....

Post by Bruce_Van_Note »

What phonograph would you like to see under your Christmas tree? Or, what phonographs would appear on your 2012 "I Want It NOW" wish list?

I would like to get a VV 1-5 portable because it would complete my collection of Victrola portables and, a VV 4-20 orthophonic.

I would love to have a flat-top Pooley VTLA. I saw one at Union in cherry a few years back that haunts me still.

On the must have for me in 2012 is an Edison Cylinder phonograph with a repeater attachment. I think those are way cool. Kinda hard to find though.. been looking 8-)

A Pooley VTLA is a nice thing to have on a wish list. But are you certain that wasn't a very
red Mahogany cabinet?? I've never seen or heard of anything in Cherry.

Well, let's see...Absolutely would drool over a Victor 8-35 Orthophonic Victrola(with the albums of course), a VV-230 in any finish, an Edison Idelia or Opera(or both:), any nice Edison Diamond Disc machine, any one of the larger Bruswick Panatropes(spring wound), a Trademark Model B, a Victor III/IV/or V with the wooden horn, & in the discount bin a late VV-IX & a VV-VI. I think that'll cover it for me. Excuse while I go out & buy a larger Christmas tree to make things easier for Santa tonight:)

I had never seen a cherry Victrola until I saw this one. I'll post photos tomorrow. It was $9500 and I only had $9499 on me at the time. Lol sorta.

Edison Class 'M'. And as long as I'm dreaming, a battery and listening tubes as well!

If wishing were getting, I'd wish for a VV-8-30 (Credenza) to replace my VV-4-40. I'd want one with a pristine, original walnut or mahogany finish; one with a motor that didn't go out of whack every few weeks, and a sound box and tonearm support bracket that didn't start to crumble apart before my eyes.

Failing that, I'd wish for a VV-2-65 or a VV-2-55 or a Columbia 161/162/163 or a Columbia Viva-Tonal 202 or an HMV 101 or 102 portable--in excellent, restored condition inside and out.

First, I'd love to have an HMV Melba with a nickel witches hat horn with matching cabinet. Second, a glass sided Zonophone Model A. Can you hear me Santa?? Hello Hello, can you hear me?????
Merry Christmas to all,
Harvey Kravitz
