Replacing Cylinder Pegs

Post by downsouth »

Ok, I have a repro Herzog cabinet and an older ornate cylinder cabinet that I am replacing the cylinder pegs in. I want to know what type glue you guys recommend. Elmers, Woodworkers? Give me your thoughts or experience on this task with glueing carboard pegs.

Regards, Wes

Hi Wes,

I used the modern hyde glue and it worked very well. I put just enough glue in a plastic disposable bowl to cover the flat bottom and "dipped" the peg in which gave me just enough and a uniform amount of glue around the base of the peg.

(did you ever cast that decorative thing-a-ma-bob I made for your XVIII?)
