Merry Christmas, folks! Here's Art Payne from an acoustic Gennett, playing "Jingle Bells" from my stash, perhaps the earliest recording of this tune.

Re: A Christmas Acoustic
Nice, but it's certainly not the earliest: here's a Columbia from the early 1900s.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrplTVKOK2Q
Edit: After leafing through Allen Koenigsberg's Edison Cylinder Records, I've found what may be the earliest known recording of the tune: a banjo solo by Will Lyle, recorded on December 16, 1889......

Ummm....... Excuse me for asking, but what does this have to do with the thread topic?Chester wrote:It's a new guitar. It's a Cordoba GK Studio Iberia. My other (gigging) guitar is a Cordoba ProF. The GK plays better (for me) , sounds better and cost half the price.
I've never had a left handed acoustic guitar. Having a thinner neck and of course access to frets above the 12th fret, has opened up a whole new instrument to me. It's very suited to my playing style. The electronics are very impressive. I can't keep my hands off of it. ; )

Re: A Christmas Acoustic
Thanks much Sean for posting. I added to my Christmas playlist, just a little late for Christmas Eve, but there's always next year.OrthoSean wrote:Merry Christmas, folks! Here's Art Payne from an acoustic Gennett, playing "Jingle Bells" from my stash, perhaps the earliest recording of this tune.

Per Rust, recorded 18 February, 1923. Art Payne didn't make many records, either.OrthoSean wrote:Not sure of the year, I'll check and see if it's in Rust when I get home later!
