Did you call? Maybe it isn't sold, yet!Garret wrote:Check it out: http://greensboro.craigslist.org/atq/2784579025.html

It is sold, just received a call back from the person selling it and it was picked up today. Hopefully somebody here got it and we will see it's transition. I thanked the guy, but I did not have the heart to tell him what he just "gave away" for a mere $500.00.

Re: SOMEBODY GOT A STEAL
too bad... looks a bit rough though with all the lost trim. still, even in this market in that condition, throw it on ebay and probably get three to four thousand easy.
and I'd bet as well, it's most likely the buyer certainly knew what it was and didn't even just pay the 500, but haggled for less.

In this case, haggling is out the door. Pay what thay're asking and load it up. That way you feel better knowing you paid what they wanted eventhough it was "pennies on the dollar" so to speak in this case.

Yeah, I thought about saying something too, but in this case ignorance is bliss.downsouth wrote:It is sold, just received a call back from the person selling it and it was picked up today. he's got to be catching on in some way, though... I mean, to see the thing sell so quickly, and then to continue receiving all these calls about it.
it's nice at least to see these still appearing. I remember discussing them a few years ago and some people were talking about there only being ten or so known to still exist, out of the nearly 600 that were produced. but between bob johnson and that victoriana museumansion in the midwest, that's got to be at least that much. that musical treaures guy in florida has at least one or two - has been trying to sell them for who knows how long. the one I used to have I sold to a couple a few states south of me, and it was their second.

Re: SOMEBODY GOT A STEAL
It's things like this that keep me going to garage sales. Yesterday I went to a sale advertised mentioning a "phonograph" and it was a junk off-brand tabletop disk machine for which they wanted $350. About 2 months ago I went to another one, again only with a mention of "phonograph," and picked up a pretty nice working VV-XVI for $250. You just never know.
