According to her wikipedia bio, she was married five times, gave birth to one son out of wedlock (who was raised by Zasu Pitts and grew up to become one of Liz Taylor's boyfriends), made a whole bunch of movies, wrote screenplays, and still had time to contract TB and die at 29. Busy girl! Wonder if that Victrola even got played much!gramophoneshane wrote:Sounds like my kind of galestott wrote: hard partying and drinking .

Keep in mind, though, Tuberculosis was rampant at that time and there there was no effective treatment. (There's a strain today, that resists conventional antibiotics and vaccinations.)

Barbara La Marr, sadly, was one of many stars that succumbed to the disease, though according to several references, it's been reported that her death was actually caused by a drug overdose.
It's interesting to note that a number of silent stars died at relatively young ages -- http://www.silentsaregolden.com/tragicendsarticle.html

Wikipedia also has a rather large list of well known or famous people that have had TB...

The first one that always comes to mind for me is the musician Jimmie Rodgers. Who most people that collect 78's ought to have heard of.
