Record Rarity Question

Post by gramophone78 »

I had a friend over and he was looking though my records. Some, I have not seen in years. Anyway, he pulled this Mildred Bailey "Georgia On My Mind" and said it was a great treat to see and in such great condition. So it got me thinking......is this a scarce record???. I can't say I seen another. Although I'm sure there are more out there.
Any member have more info on this disc??.

I think that was actually a modestly successful record for her, relatively speaking, Because it came out in the trough of the Great Depression (1932) so, there may not be a large number of copies floating around, anyway. In them days, even a 'hot' title might only move in the low thousands, sales wise.

Not rare, I have 2 copies of the original issue and at least one on the Bluebird label (which was a repress from original masters and very easy to find). Both of my Victor copies are really clean ones that cost me under $10 each.

Now that I'm reminded, I'm pretty sure I have that Bluebird 78 as well. Bunch of Mildred Bailey records in my 78's but I've not kept close tabs on them. They're usually so common.
