Thanks robert! I was talking about the gears to change from 2 to 4 minute on the upper section of the fireside, I.e the gear you pull out and push in to change the speed and the smaller gear behind that gear!edison11 wrote:Alex, what gear are you refering to? This might be what you need. I don't know about the pricing and it would be much better to take Robert up on his kind offer first if you find he has what you are looking for.

i am still looking for some gears alone, here are the worn gears from my fireside, they work fine but the noise from them is driving me insain!
please note, if you have any i cannot pay straight away, even at my age i have still managed to find myself oweing alot of money to someone for a phonograph (what am i like!
) so if you have any unworn, quiet ones then i will add it to the list of things i want to buy!

The gear teeth appear to be good from the picture. I had a pesky "click click click" sound from my Fireside
and I could not tell where it was coming from. I sprayed all the moving parts (except the belt of course) with "Ultra lube" and its dead quiet now. I can barely hear it running. If you can get that stuff in the UK give it a try.

Have you checked for burrs? Sometimes a little work with a jeweler's file can smooth things out.kirtley2012 wrote:i have tried everything with these! including covering all the gears with wd-40, grease and vaseline but they are still quite noisy!
