Dear all,
Sorry to bother again. Here is the machine:
The seller wants 290 euros for it, which I know you will say it is expensive, even more so given that he says that some rusty parts need cleansing and the wooden parts need restoration. Anyway, it is claimed that the machine is fully functional.
Regards,
António

Stay away from this- the condition is very poor.

I don't know which model Columbia Grafonola that is, but it's in terrible condition and vastly overpriced.

Since you seem quite anxious to buy a Gramophone right away(a sure fire way to making a bad mistake). As mentioned before, you may want to try contacting collectors in Spain. I know there are several. They may have a decent machine to offer you and at least you will have a better idea what your getting. Also, as mentioned, you will be dealing with another person that is more familiar with the machines that seem to be available in that part of the world. I also know there are several Spanish collectors at buy many machines on Ebay from North America. Even for an experienced collector sites like Craigs List or the Portuguese equivalent is a buyer beware area. Then,as mentioned....you have to go with your gut feeling on what your buying. I am starting to improve my Portuguese however looking at all their sites. Heck, I may find that Phrynis #10 on one of them.....WHAT????.....you never know!!!.....

Thanks for the advice. From the responses I have received I'm already starting to decrease my anxiety and to increase my fear.gramophone78 wrote:Since you seem quite anxious to buy a Gramophone right away(a sure fire way to making a bad mistake). I would certainly not "fear" anything with regards to Gramophones. I wish I could remember that very reputable collector in Spain. He has his own web-site and has a wonderful collection of Gramophones & radios. Maybe another member can provide you his contact. I did have contact with him a couple years ago. However, there was a language problem and it did not continue. If anything.....a collection well worth seeing....if you can. Hope that helps ease the fear.....

Thanks Rene. That is the site I was referring to. I would start there and see how you can make out. Best of luck to you. I do hope you let us all know what happens and "if" you make a purchase, show your new treasure to us all. I would not be surprised if the man knows collectors in Portugal??. As you can see....I was not joking about finding a Phrynis #10....TinfoilPhono wrote:Here's the website you're referring to, Wayne: http://www.coleccionfb.com
