Most on this forum probably didn't know Charlie Bradley from Minnesota. He's been pretty much out of the hobby for several years, getting into radio restoration and then scroll sawing. I just learned rather belatedly from his wife that he died in his sleep Feb 4 at the age of 79.
I met him when I responded to a newspaper ad in the antiques section listing an "Edison Standard Phonograph". I'd really just learned what a cylinder phono was shortly before that. I went to his house, looked at the Standard on his kitchen table and asked several questions about it. Finally he said something like, "Oh come on downstairs." I was totally in awe at what I saw.
In spite of his exiting the hobby we've remained good friends and kept in contact over the years. You could not find a kinder, more friendly person.
Rest in peace Charlie.
