I am selling this HMV cabinet. The crank escutcheon and speed control are included. The price is $150 plus shipping. Thanks, Jerry

It's intended for the triple-spring motor variant and it's a GREAT price too!
One question though, if that's for HMV, why has it got a Victor transfer on it?

The transfer is really not the same. The outer ring, (lacking on the U.S. version), has wording indicating its German pedigree. "Deutsch gramophone", as near as I can tell

oh, ok so it is definately hmv?, the resembelances to some victor machines made me wonder wether it was in fact hmv or victor!JerryVan wrote:The transfer is really not the same. The outer ring, (lacking on the U.S. version), has wording indicating its British pedigree.

You are correct, it says "Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft" on top, and under Nipper it says "Die Stimme seines Herrn" (German for His Masters Voice), so it is from a German HMV machine. It looks really nice.JerryVan wrote:The transfer is really not the same. The outer ring, (lacking on the U.S. version), has wording indicating its German pedigree. Re: HMV Cabinet For Sale - Look!
Alex,
I spoke to Jerry Blais earlier on the phone. The motor on the cabinet is a double spring motor similar to a Victor M or E. I have a complete machine.I uses the same spring barrels and metal circular plate. However, the governor is horizontal, instead of vertical. The spindle shaft is threaded as is the turn table. This is a difficult motor to find in the USA, but maybe easier in the UK. I don't have a digital camera to take pictures of the motor. If you have the new HMV book, it shows the various motors. I'd strongly suggest you get that book.
Good luck,
Harvey Kravitz

Hi
Most of the time I find it is cheaper to buy a complete machine rather than build one from parts. Alex if you need some pictures let me know and I will email them to you.
I need the Ivory plaque on the side, mine is missing. If anyone has one please let me know.
Regards Marcel
