He has not specified Portugal as a shipping possibility...

Do you want to do me a favor? Would you be able to send a message to the seller, saying that there is a Portuguese guy who wants to bid, asking for him to specify Portugal as a possible shipping destination?

It would be a big favor, I know. You could give him my address.

But it's ok if you can't do it.
It's that he ships to Germany, US and other countries... So maybe he can also ship here but did not think that there would be a Portuguese buyer.

Found his e-mail address. No need for the favor. Thanks anyway. ;)

They definitely don't ship to Portugal. Bad luck!

Personally, I still think the Selecta was a good honest little machine from what the photos show.
I know some collectors wouldn't dream of owning anything but a big brand name machine, but some of these lesser known brands with Thorens arm & soundbox perform every bit as good or better than some HMV/Victors with the old 1903 designed Exhibition soundbox.

The question here, as someone said, is price. The Victor is I mentioned is quite cheaper so far. Well, maybe with postage included it will become more expensive...
On the other hand, you're right... I'm no collector. I just want a robust machine with acceptable sound to allow me listening to my 78 rpms...

But the label with the little dog is so tempting. :?

Anyway, my wife is temporarily working in Germany, so I could bid on the Victor after all, by providing her address. They will not get it without a fight!

They now say that there is no shipping abroad...

Anyway, I start to think that with shipping plus tax, the cost of ordering a gramophone from the US is prohibitive... Better continue to try Britain or France.

What would you say about this one:

They don't ship to Portugal, anyway, but I would like to learn from you about the likely authenticity of this machine.

That's the same machine that was on the first website you posted, that now has an electric motor.
