Brunswick model 35 or 135

I bought the Brunswick phonograph that was listed on CL. It came with a booklet that show several models. It is clearly the one that as listed as model 135 but the metal tag on the machine has model 35 on it. I have found images on the net with both model numbers. Anyone have a clue about this. It needs some TLC but will post some pictures soon.

I thought the Brunswick model 35 was a Brunswick Radiola model (BR-35) as pictured below?
Perhaps the wrong ID plate was applied, or someone just made a mistake when striking the model number?
Brunswich appears to have used 2 digit model numbers in the late teens, and by the early 20s thet seem to have changed to 3 digits. Perhaps they simply added the 1 in front of the 35 when this change took place?

Congratulations on your new addition. Brunswick made some superb cabinets, and this one is no exception. It's very nice indeed.

Maybe you're right that they just changed to 3 digit model numbers later. When I was searching the net to find out what model number it might be, before I called about the machine, I found a site that listed it as a model 135. Then I found one listed as a 35 and I thought maybe the owner just accidently omitted the 1. When I picked this one up, the plate says model 35 so I know there are at least 2 out there with model 35 on the plate.

I also own a machine just like yours, It is a model 35 in mahogany. I have done some research on these and it was desigated a model 35 if it were mahogany and it was given the model number 135 if it were in walnut. I was fortunate to get the original instruction manual, record index, Pathé point sapphire unopened and other paper items with mine. The serial number on mine is 337812. In my research I have found about 9 of these machines to exist, and now yours makes 10. I'm sure there are a few more out there, but they don't turn up often. Nice find!

I saw that too. So I think that it is more likely that it was changed from 2 to 3 digits at some point. I also got the instruction book, unpacking instructions and a model booklet which lists both the Walnut and the Mahogany machines as Model 135. Serial number on this one is 337791. I wonder how the serial numbers coincide with how many of each model they made. I guess there is not alot of information on Brunswick machines or a book like there is for Victor, Edison and Columbia? Iguess because Brunswick was such a late comer to the phonograph market and there isn't alot of collector interest in most models?

ColoradoPhonograf your Brunswick is beautiful. Hope mine will be as nice when cleaned up. It is in need of some repair but I think it will be nice when done.
