I purchased tone arm, reproducer, and motor of a stripped Victrola from a friend who picked it all up at an antique mall years ago. I knew that the motor fit the early Victrolas as well as some late horn machines--complete with bullet brake! I am a bit mystified by the tone arm. Rather than a complete base with mounting holes, it seems to be a part of a two piece base. I have looked at photos of early Victorlas but don't see the two piece arrangement unless the pictures I'm viewing are not high enough resolution.
Just what is this from??
Thanks,
Steve

Looks like a late VTLA or an early (A,B,C) VV-XVI. It has the yielding turntable and 3 spring double cut spiral motor.

The tone arm, if nickel plated, would be correct for a M, MS, D, III, IV, V, or VI, if gold plated. All those models used the same size tone arms. Jerry

The motor would be correct for a late (post 1906) Victor VI, and some Victor V machines, dating to between say, late 1910 and 1916.

Thanks guys. I just have never seen a tone arm base without a mounting flange. Was the tone arm base in some of the earlier Victrolas a two-piece with a separate mounting flange?
