Is this a "real"machine or something bolted together.
Spotted this in an upcoming auction and was wondering if this is really a disk and cylinder machine? If interested I can post the auction listing.

I can't quite tell. It looks like it might be a Columbia BKT -- http://www3.sympatico.ca/jean-paul.agna ... n3/bkt.htm

Thanks all. I saw the taper and thought it might play disks as well. Nice looking machine, but I can't make the auction, and it appears the reproducer is missing anyway.

To me machines like this are where you get real bargains, and then use the strength of belonging to this forum to find the parts you need. I came across something similar at a local auction that was missing a key part, and therefore came home with me for what I consider a bargain price. Then, through the amazing network of connections on this forum, I was able to get the part expertly fabricated and delivered to my door for a really reasonable price. I am still very thankful to the gents who helped me out with this one.
These pics show the machine, but with the correct original part. I put the repro one on a nicer looking BQ since the shiny nickel looked too bright on this one that is a little worn, but still presentable.

Actually, the "Oxford" was a different model, the BVT. A unique feature is the non-removable reproducer: since the auction machine is apparently missing its reproducer (which is a big minus), it's pretty obviously a BKT...gramophoneshane wrote:Or sometimes called the "Oxford".
