Bent spindle

This looks as if this one was abused and dropped on its head at one time. Its a solid piece of (steel?) Any ideas how can i bend that back in shape?

Do you have access to a forge? Half jokes aside, I would think heating would be the safest method to restore the shape with the least chance of fatal damage. I do have access to a forge, so it kind of jumps to mind..... John
