I dont think this at all correct.
The Sonora De Luxe Period models were heavily advertised in Australian newspapers between early 1923 until mid 1927, when it appears they were reducing prices to get rid of old stock.
Australian music stores all over the country had these models in stock, so they wouldn't have been built to order.

Some of these may have been made in numbers but i dont think they all were. Some of the finishes were custom, Some had the Count meter and some didnt.
The bulge models and uprights you see all the time as those were made in great numbers but the Periods you hardly see anymore. But you may be right about them all not being custom made though
