Victor early 2 spring motor- Problem with shaft/barrel

I have a VV VI early model 2 spring motor, I wanted to clean/regrease the springs, I got the end barrel off with a twist, but the second barrel, which is closest to the ratchet gear, wont slip off. I am trying to twist it so the spring can unhook but doesnt feel like its letting go. I see a pin by the ratchet gear..but im not sure that even needs to be punched out because the whole piece should slide thru from the other side.
There is no set screw on either side. Am i missing something? Am I not twisting hard enuf or does that pin need to come out?

SOLVED..I ended up banging that pin out with a punch..and once the pin was out, was able to twist and unhook.
