Edisonia Milano cylinder box

Post by max_phenol »

Can anybody here tell me something about Edisonia in Milano, Italy? I recently bought a cylinder record that has a label on front by this company (see attached photo) and can't find anything on the web about it.

Thanks a lot! Helmut

To me, it appears to be a dealer label for G.Snider at No.13, Via Abramo Lincoln, Milan, on what looks like a Pathé box.
The Edison banner decal on the machine behind the "Edisonia" insignia may just mean G.Snider was an Edison dealership?
If you go to google maps and enter "Via Abramo Lincoln, 13, Cinisello Balsamo MI, Italy", you'll see where I assume the shop once stood, though now there is a concrete monstrosity in it's place, occupied by a Honda dealership called "Decar".

Attractive label of about 1902. "Edisonia" is perhaps borrowed from Edisonia Ltd., licensee of The Edison Bell Corporation Ltd. in Great Britain. Must be one of many European dealers selling phonographs.

I always go to Google Maps to look up the location on dealer tags out of curiosity. It is usually a disappointment. Things do tend to change after 100 years.
