Interesting Union trip purchases - Look!

Post by Jerry B. »

Here are a few photos of things purchased on my driving trip from Oregon to Illinois and back for the Union show. My big purchases were some wonderful record cabinets but they are not quite ready for photos. Jerry Blais

This is an example on one of Steve Madara's glass horns. They are absolutely beautiful and sell for between $400 and $500 depending on the finish.

Most of us have seen Nipper salt & pepper shakers but this is the first set that has a darker dog for the pepper.

A RCA Victor AA belt buckle. I suspect the "AA" stands for amateur athletics. Did RCA field sporting teams?

Jerry,
Those are some nice finds. I never find anything like that when looking in the shops. Must be my bad eye sight. I guess I'll have to keep my eye's open  I love those glass horns. I'll have one some day! Guess I will have to find a machine to put it on first :P Can't wait to see more Union finds. Jan.

Hi Jerry, Glad to see your horn made it safely home. Really makes that Gem look sharp. Good job finding those other interesting items. Steve

Wow Jerry. The glass horn got a place on the main floor. Cool!

The glass horn is a beauty. Do they sound any different from metal ones?

The Gem with the glass horn sounds OK but the small end of the horn has a small opening. I suspect it would sound better if the opening was larger. I have not seen or inspected an original glass horn so I no way of knowing if an old one had a larger opening. I have to admit that I bought the new glass horn because they look so terrific and it made DeeDee very happy. Whenever I can buy a phono item that DeeDee likes, it's a win win. I try never to miss out on a win win. Jerry
