Note this eBay listing:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-Victor- ... 3f186bb3c0
It shows an Electrola 9-55 cabinet which appears to have been fitted with a Victor Micro-Synchronous radio chassis. Now Victor offered a couple of known models of 1928-29 set so fitted, most notably the RE-154 and the RE-156, which were micro-synchronous versions of the VE 9-54 and the VE 9-56 respectively. At least one example of a VV 10-50 is known to have been built with the Micro-synchronous radio, and there are reports of a 10-70 cabinet so fitted. I've seen an Electrola Hyperion with a Radiola 18 chassis, like an elaborate version of the VE 7-26. Does anyone else know of examples of such sets?
Can someone copy the photos from the eBay listing to this thread? I think that they will be useful reference material. This is an odd variant of a rather rare set.

Re: Victor Electrola 9-55 Micro-Synchronous?
Curiosity got the best of me, so I purchased this cabinet. I needed a couple of the record books, and wanted to see if it was really a factory install, or something done later by a craftsman. After looking it over, I think this was done later on by someone who wanted to fix a cabinet that was missing the radio, much like I did with the one I bought a while back.
My reasons, the shelves are held in by "L" shaped brackets; the automatic light turnoff switch on the door does not engage with a switch on the front radio face; there is a hole in the center of the front piece as if this was borrowed from a radio. I used an RE-45 but am unsure what one would have a hole, probably for a light?
Anyway, I may be able to use one of the doors if the color is right. Mine has a broken fancy pull part and the one on this cabinet that is good, is the one I need.
Take a look at the follow-up pics and see what you think. I will include a pic of my use of a trashed RE-45 so you can see the comparison.

I have a 10-50 with that radio. The unit has the correct victor ID plate and certainly looks factory. This post is way back but I'll send pics if you want.
