Scam on Ebay

Post by jukejunkie »

http://www.ebay.com/itm/VICTOR-RECORDS- ... 651wt_1220

This guy says he has no idea if the records he is including are the correct ones for this album but anyone who has this folio knows the correct records are listed on the record sleeves. I wrote him about his error and was called a [donkey] for doing so.

I guess I should have know better than to try to point out an eBay listing error.

The uneducated are always going to buy a crap-o-phones or bat wing Victor records without the VE symbols as orhthophonic recordings.

I guess anyone can feign stupidity to make a buck in these times.

Actually, the correct records are not listed on the sleeves, only recommendations. (Some of the records listed are 12-inch records, and we all know those won't fit in that 'folio', don't we.)

As for the guy calling you a [donkey] for pointing out his error, he was probably right in doing so, as it's plainly obvious you had no intention of buying the album. He clearly stated that he didn't know if the records came with the album or not. He makes no claims that they are indeed Orthophonic records. Besides, the group of individuals that would be interested in this auction are educated enough to tell that most of the records included in the auction are circa 1923 or before, save the one actual Orthophonic record.

I guess I should know better than to try to point out mistakes to a know-it-all, but it's worth it if it helps make selling items like this more pleasant on eBay. ;)
