Just picked up this Edison Home Suitcase machine with Automatic reproducer, Automatic recorder in original box with screwdriver, 14" solid brass horn, and 31" solid brass horn. And last a box of 24 beautiful brown wax cylinders.
Also, a nice Edison Home machine that was assembled with the wrong ID Plate. It has a Triumph ID Plate on a Home machine with a Serial Number in the Home range. Way to high for a Triumph.
Love to hear your thoughts on machines.

Re: New Addition
Do you know the provenance of the Home with the Triumph ID tag? Are you convinced that the studs are factory installed and it's a factory error? If so, I think it's wonderfully interesting. I love factory goofs. A Columbia Eagle with an upside down decal was featured in George Paul's recent article. I loved the photo and the article. A local Oregon collector has a Vernis Martin XVII with an upside down decal. I think that makes it wildly interesting. I remember a discussion among OTAPS members about whether you'd want the Victrola with the decal in the factory correct position or with the factory goof. I was surprised that several members preferred the correct position. Not me! Jerry Blais

Re: New Addition
Just my two cents but there appears to be no evidence of removal of the ID plate. When you look at it from the bottom are both of the brass "legs" present? Or missing on side". I would venture if both present and no distress on bottom and looking close at top of area of plate around the brass fasteners if they are clean you may just have a very good example of an Edison "made on a Monday" as old timers referred to in buying new cars 50 years ago. If it fits my comments I think you have possilby a very unusual mistake machine. Of course those much smarter than me will have to chime in. Maybe the Home was made in a different part of the factory with no way a plate from another machine might have found its way there but lets see where this string goes. Beautiful machine and its cylinders etc. Good for you.

Re: New Addition
They're both cool machines. Congratulations on your find! In regard to the "Triumph/Home" machine, I agree with the others: it appears to be a genuine factory error. While my primary focus in data-gathering has been in Edison Standards, in the past couple of years I've also been keeping track of Homes as well. Your serial number is exactly right for a Model B Home in a Tall case. The last patent date on the Triumph plate is also in line with being a Home Model B. I don't think that Triumph serial numbers ever got to 100,000.
The Suitcase Home is also very nice. Can you tell us the last patent date and serial number? In any case, both machines are a great addition. Best Regards

Very nice machines.
The Home with the Triumph data plate was sold in November 1907 according to its serial number. Sales were so strong in 1907 - and especially during the Christmas rush - that it's possible there was a brief shortage of Home data plates. I've seen another one of these Homes marked as a Triumph, but I can't recall any details.
