Anyone have any pics of the viva tonal motor

Post by Victrolaman »

I'm restoring a 1926 Columbia viva tonal model 700
I went to put it back together and I can't get the speed arm and on and off to work now
I can't remember how it goes back together now
Live and learn
If I had a few pics of the top of thd motor I can see how the parts go
The hook at the end of the speed lever is getting bound up
I should have took pics first dumb lol :)
Can anyone post some pics of the motor with the motor board off so I can see how it goes
Thanks or send me a pm

Hi Dave
Kind of mine doesn't have thd auto brake
But do you have a pic with out the board? I can't see how the levers line up
Now it isn't running at all? I'm confused I should have left it alone
It's fully wound and even with both speed and start lever out its Wont run?
How can this be the brake pads came out to, they are on a little lever under thd speed lever
This whole thing started when I went to polish the levers I removed them and now I don't remember how they go
So now even with them out it's not running I can't see how
It's fully wound
Could it be the governor?
If you have a pic of your motor with the board off I can get a idea
Or I can try to post a pic of mine
Lol
Live and learn won't do that again

The photo I posted was from a post I remembered seeing on the VictrolaGramophones forum. I don't have a Viva-Tonal. (Wish I did...)

Hopefully, one of the members here does have one.

I apreciate that Dave thank you!
Well it is running like it should norm the gov was gummed with old grease and junk, but I still can't see ow the start switch goes and the speed control lever, under tha is a little lever that has the brake pads, I get this fixed I'll never take it apart again lol
Geesh.
I looked for years for a nice Viva Tonal machine and now that I got one I can't even play it till I get this fixed
