Does someone have any info on the Selecta no.6 soundbox Deluxe, its probable manufacturer, manufacturing dates, comparative quality, etc.?
I'm sending some pics.
Kind regards,

Re: Selecta No. 6 soundbox
Selecta was one of many smaller British manufacturers which used bought in motors and soundboxes. Here they are known as "Assembled Gramophones" which at least sounds a little less dismissive than "Off Brand".
The accompanying picture shows a portable Model K fitted with a soundbox looking not unlike yours. The use of a double spring motor in a portable is usually an indication of quality.
Paillard or Thorens are the most likely manufacturers of both the motor and the soundbox.

I have two Thorens soundboxes (one of them is branded Selecta Deluxe) and they are like this one:epigramophone wrote:Selecta was one of many smaller British manufacturers which used bought in motors and soundboxes.
