Gojo because you want to use a citrus based cleaner. I use Goop because it is the same thing and they sell it at my local dollar store. The citrus products will clean the caked on dirt and oils without stripping th the patina. The pumice free kind is to prevent scratches. You'll be amazed at the results. It took my almost black and alligatored Columbia up to a gorgeous shining mahogany.

As for Peter Wall, he has a listing on ebay for $2.99 called Orthophonic reproducer repair. You buy that. he sends you his address. You mail him your reproducer and within a day or so of getting it he will email you a repair quote. If you agree, he does the work and creates a private listing for your bill. I think total turn around time for mine was less than 2 weeks and I can vouch for the quality of his work.

Thanks m0xiemama!

Question - do you have Peter's e-mail address that you could send to me via a PM?

The pumic will scratch the @#$% out of the finish!

Aside from finish scratching the pumice kind leaves sand everywhere!

This is ridiculous, but three chain stores I went to didn't carry GoJo without pumice.

Have you used GoJo wipes?

Since this might be a lost cause, what other 'cleaner' should I look at? Any orange/lemon oil-based cleaner? Or simply lemon/orange oil?

The wipes wouldn't be good- you need a good layer of the stuff. Is there a Pep Boys near you? The stuff is usually found in automotive stores.

I found that they have the Gojo "Cream" style cleaner at Autozone, but I usually just use GooP which you can get at Walmart or Harbor Freight in the automotive department. GoJo and GooP are pretty much the same, just different brand names.

My problem is that they don't carry them in Canada. I'll go to Walmart today and see if they have either of them.

In case they don't, what generic cleaner should I look for?
