I reworked my reproducer with a diaphragm bought on Ebay. It works fine. The condition of the diamond is important..but afterall it is a diamond. Hardest surface known to man.VintageTechnologies wrote:You can't go wrong at that price, even if you do have to buy another reproducer.Confettihead wrote:At a price of $100 I don't see myself passing it up if it is in the condition he claims.

Re: Edison c250 question
I just got home with the C250 and it is beautiful. It was one of those purchases where I had to contain myself. Only "problem" is this. The cabinets are locked. The drawers are out of it but it is full of something, presumably records. Any tips on picking these old locks?Oh....and it had the converter included with it!! All for $100 plus about 100 additional classical 78s for $15.00. I may have to take tomorrow off of work to play with this!

I know that feeling of excitement and anticipation that there is treasure in those locked cabinets. You should be able to find an edison key on ebay or perhaps a WTB post in the yankee trader section would yield results.

Thanks Brad, I will do that. I'm just hoping to find a way into it now.....I'm hoping for bars of gold.

PS-Do I just order a key for a c250? Are they all the same? How do I make sure I get the right key?

Re: Edison c250 question
I am not the expert on which keys shipped with which machines, however, I know that the common edison key pictured below works in my C-250.

Re: Edison c250 question
I just browsed ebay and was shocked at the prices for the keys. I always though the keys went for $20-$30. Did something change or are all that is available are the ones priced to keep?
A lower cost alternative would be a columbia key. The key pictured below works my C-250 locks just fine.

Thanks again, I am trying to fabricate one out of copper tubing. Can you tell me which way the key turns and about how far you turn it?

Re: Edison c250 question
Nevermind...I got it. Check out my solution over herehttp://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... f=7&t=9418 Unfortunately it was empty....I now have a beautiful c250 without a single disc to play on it. All of the ones that came with it are traditional 78s.
