This is a scan of a snapshot of the soprano ...and Columbia star...Lillian Nordica taken at her birthplace outside of Farmington, Maine. I visited the birthplace museum in the late 70's and they were selling these pics as a souvenir. They were printed from the original negative which was taken by one of the locals in original snapshot size. The scan is much bigger than the original which has all the earmarks of something taken with a box brownie. I ran across it the other day and thought I'd scan it before it fades into oblivion: the local photo finisher in Farmington didn't use the best of processing methods. They didn't supply a date but from her clothes and the Model T in the background I'd say 1911.
