Photos from APS Show - Buena Park, CA

Post by TinfoilPhono »

The annual Antique Phonograph Society (formerly CAPS) show was held this weekend, and was a lot of fun as usual. Here are a few quick snapshots of some of the fun things that were available.

That is a coin-operated Zonophone, made by Universal Talking Machine for the French market. The casting on the side is the coin-mechanism, with instructions cast into the metal and a notation that it was imported from Universal. After inserting a 10-centime coin the customer presses the plunger and that turns on the motor. An internal timing gear shuts it off after a suitable number of revolutions to play a single record. The deep base houses a large coin drawer.

That particular machine came home with me.

It sure is a winner to me. I like its style.
When you have a chance please shoot a picture of the coin box.

Thanks,
James.

Pardon me. I will be right back. I am going for a towel to catch the drool!
