RCA Victor model question ;)

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I have what I believe to be a 60s model RCA Victor. The model number is VGT 81 MK, I was wondering if any of yall could shed some light about this record player. I got it from an abandoned house from a lady who said her aunt used to own it. I got it for dirt cheap, the radio sounds like a dream but sadly the record player doesn't work well. It spins and the disc changer works fine but i think it needs a new sylus. Anywho enjoy he pics and if possible please give me some info!

This type of phonograph is not usually in the realm of the "antique phonographs" discussed in the forum, but there are other websites out there, I am sure, which can provide more information.

It appears to be worth preserving and hopefully you will get some help.

It is also good to know another new collector in Texas! (My location is in Lubbock.)

What you have is a 1964 RCA Console. New Vista series, Or solid state which came out in late 63 into 64.
I Also collect and Restore Vintage Tube audio from the 50's and Early 60's I have a nice RCA console from 63. And other Consoles in my collection
There is nothing wrong with the changer other than it needs a good cleaning and lubrication. If you go on ebay and type in the search record player needles or Cartridges. There are a few people that sell them. Id just replace the cartrideg with a new one, give the guy the model number. You can replace just the needle but if you replace the cartridge it may come with a needle. I have this same style cartridge on one of my consoles and they are available new old stock.
Also you should have the Radio amp and preamp serviced to with new Capacitors and Electrolytics.
And you will have a nice sounding stereo. Let me know if you need any help or questions
