Columbia BZ disc machine

Post by Le0 »

okay, there's a Columbia BZ in the local ads... there's a square mark around the decal and it looks really clean so I guess (I'd bet $100) it's a restored machine.
so according to the pictures and your knowledge on the subject, does it looks restored and how much do you think it is worth? please give estimations WITH and WITHOUT the cabinet below as I don't know if it is part of the deal.

for unknown reasons I can't get the first link working but the square mark around the decal is visible on the other pictures.

I think the BZ is a great little machine and must have been Columbia's answer to the Vic O. Even the inexpensive Columbia machines had style. The BZ is no exception with the scalloped corners and the fogged paint on the horn. I can't tell if the horn has been repainted and decorations added. The case would be an easy refinish because of Gregg's excellent decals. If everything has been repainted and refinished, I'd offer an estimated value of around $500. Others? Jerry Blais

I will leave values to others who are more knowledgeable about that, but I am guessing that the cabinet is part of the deal as one of the pictures emphasizes it. And it is gorgeous!

seems like the cabinet is getting lots of attention... all in all, would it be reasonable to spend more than $1,200?

Personally, I would think that's rather excessive for this model...

$1,200 is pretty steep for this one. While that is a nice machine it is a pretty basic one and worth well under $1000. I also think the cabinet is too fancy for it.

Is the cabinet even meant for a talking machine? Jerry
