Need help identifying this machine [Empire Co.]

It appears in the pics that some of the records may be Edison Diamond discs. If any of your labels say Edison, do not play them of this machine. They will be ruined.

There are many sources for new needles on eBay, I have had good results from Walt Sommers' needles http://stores.ebay.com/gettysburgantiquephonographs .

Alright, after obtaining new needles and playing the proper shellac records, I still get the same issue where the needle rubs too hard on the disc and stops it from rotating, this scratching my record.
I tried what I could when it came to oiling it up. The spring seems fine, and I am encountering resistance when I crank it (like you all said I should). No think sounds on my end. I'll see if I can record and upload a video of my issue.

Sorry again for the rookie mistakes. I am still new to this.

Where are you located ?< roughly>, someone may be nearby who can help you out in evaluating it. Just a thought.
