If you were "partnered" how honest would you be re. your collecting habits?

Poll ended at Thu Apr 02, 2009 9:18 am

I would sneak my stuff in when he/she's out. I would only mention the purchase if it's so big and obvious he/she can't miss it and I'd factor the price down significantly or refuse to say.

How honest are THE WITHOUT PARTNER members of this forum?

Post by Valecnik »

By popular demand a poll for those of you currently without partner/spouse:

Okay all you unattached out there. This poll is for you. Of course whether this poll works or not depends on whether you answer the poll question honestly so maybe the whole concept is flawed.

Alot of us express frustration, anger, outrage about sellers who "forget" to mention certain details about the stuff they are offering for sale. Are we all above that???

If you all promise to answer the below poll question honestly, we should get a pretty good indication and we can compare your responses to the more "partnered" members of this forum. THIS POLL IS ONLY FOR THOSE OF YOU CURRENTLY WITHOUT PARTNER. IF YOU ARE IN A COMITTED RELATIONSHIP, VOTE IN THE OTHER RELATED POLL.

For your convenience, here’s a link to Valecnik’s other (with partner) poll, for those that don’t qualify to respond to this one.

I can’t say that I’ve been in a relationship where I had to justify or explain my purchases, though, as long as they came out of my income. :D

Although, it might help if you occasionally bribe your significant other with things he or she might want, also...

....and yes, I agree with Richard too; it's a matter of us spending our own money and not anyone elses, really! Maybe we need YET ANOTHER POLL to vote in to establish the honesty of those members who buy items with their own money and don't tell their partners etc?!

I mean I only ever spend MY money and never my partner's money. I can't get at her money anyway (which is probably just as well  ) because a) she rarely has any and b) when she does, it's ALWAYS under lock and key! :)

If I had a shared bank account, my response would have been very different - I would have voted for the "tell all" policy. To not to would seem to be a bit unfair to me anyway.

Have I redeemed myself now?

Have you redeemed yourself Richard? Well jeez I don't know. In my case we have a shared bank account but all "shares" are input by me.

We do "share" responsibility for managing it though 50/50. I handle deposits and she handles withdrawls, (well except for the phono stuff) :?

Hmmmm. Very clever line of questioning , Mr Holmes. You want us singletons to hypothesize about how sneaky we THINK we'd be IF we had a partner. :D This is precisely why I'm happy in single bliss: no justification necessary about anything! AND I get to put my feet on the breakfast table while I read the paper in the morning. Which may perhaps be the reason why I'm single.

Can I vote here too? Since Ken started is new job, he's now 10 hrs. away in northern VA. That means I can now get any phonos I want & there will be no discussion!

You may wish to be more careful in placating your significant feline–claw marks are hard to restore! :D
