I am a big fan of Edmond Clement. He didn't have a big voice...a French tenor.... but it is very lovely and he used it intelligently: he's a real musician...which can be unusual in a tenor

His recording of Vainement ma bien-aimee from Le Roi d'Ys is one of the discs I would take were I to be exiled to a desert island. Clement is one of those singers with John McCormack and Reinald Werrenrath diction: you can understand every word. He's also one who suffers when he's played too fast: he sounds like Minnie Mouse.
