Seeking G&T motor parts (or Victor equivalent)

Post by Ian »

I wonder if anyone across the pond can assist with some early motor parts I am seeking. The machine is G&T Junior Monarch, which has an incomplete spiral-drive motor. Looks to me as though someone in the past has removed the spring barrel to replace a broken spring and then lost all the relevant bits.

Possibly some of the Victor machines from the USA may utilise the same parts. Attached is a picture of an identical and complete motor that I have borrowed for reference purposes. The parts I needs are the spring barrel, bull gear and winding shaft. I'm in the UK, where these bits are proving difficult to find, hence I'm casting my net a little wider!

I would think they would be interchangeable with Victor parts. You can probably contact any number of suppliers stateside. We have a list here:

I would recommend either George Vollema at Great Lakes Antique Phono, or Victrola repair service to start with.
