Odd stuff

Post by dutchman »

Found this stored away - friend picked this up in Greece in the 60's, gave it to me in pieces, cabinet in pieces etc, so I spent a weekend putting it back to together - it is a classic Frankenmachine so Purists please cover your eyes

That is quite a hybrid you have there!

The soundbox is an HMV 5a or 5b, and probably worth more than the rest of the machine put together.

The tonearm is a Columbia(UK) Plano-Reflex of about 1929, fitted upside down to connect with the back bracket, and the speed control is a Paillard.

The combination of the HMV soundbox and the external horn should give a very acceptable sound.
