Introduction...again.

Post by scooter »

Hi all,
I made my first post on the old/new Talking Machine Forum Tuesday night before everything went dark Wednesday morning so I'll introduce myself again here.

First of all, Neophone and Mordeth really busted a hump this week getting this new board up so THANKS you guys!

I've been hooked on Edison Diamond discs for that last two years after getting my first phonograph, a C-150. I was a very frequent reader of the OTVMMB but didn't post becuase I had more to learn than contribute and I sure learned a lot from all of you and from the archives. Now that we're starting anew and I have some experience I'm looking forward to joining the discussion and building the archives back up. I'll be working on posting some music files of my favorite songs too.

While I started out with a great C-150 in my living room and managed to amass a bunch of DD's from garage sales and estate sales, I found a lonely C-19 locally about a year ago that needed just a little TLC and some elbow grease. Now I'm playing DD's even louder!!

I have to tell you that the Twin Cities are teeming with phonographs. There is something great available here every week. There are two c-19's on Craigslist in the area now. One oak and one mahogany! This must have been a good market in the 20's. I'm meeting a lady this afternoon who has 40 DD's. Can't wait to see what treasures may await!!

I also found a neglected but very solid C-200 Adam a few weeks ago that someone began stripping but luckily didn't ruin. So, I'll post some pics of that project today too. I got it dirt cheap so it will be a fun winter project to refinish.

Anyway, hello and talk to you all soon.

Scott,

Welcome, I was in the process of responding to your intro post on the first TMF when "the lights went out" :o (Hopefully it won't happen again!) Thank you for your kind words.

Sound like you've got some nice DD phonos there! I'm looking forward to see some photos.

Regards,
John

Listening to the Victrola fifteen minutes a day will alter and brighten your whole life.
