From what I understand is that CDs are on there way out. 33 and 45 rpm records are in, and one of the few physical mediums that is gaining ground. Downloading such as I tunes and the like is popular.. Another thing is that good quality digital home studios can be built for much less than years ago, for instance good quality condenser microphones that years ago cost at least a 1000.00you can find 20-20,000 cps condenser microphones for 300.00 sometimes less. Sony Acid Pro, Cakewalk, Sonar, and Pro tools, and if you are reach cheap, Audacity (which I actually find works quite well,) are what many productions are made on, instead of A Dat DAT and DASH. My fave is to muti track in digital, at 20 or more bits, at 96 khz and then run the signal through say Pultec,, and Teletronix tube equipment then make the master at 15ips through a tube Ampex. Call me old fashioned, I like the sound of analog reel to reel. I see though were it is now the big 3 LOL, but it seems that Universal might buy everyone out.
