The only problem I see is that storing cylinders on their sides is not good, it can cause them to go out of round. Neat concept, but I wouldn't store my cylinders that way.

I am thinking the cabinet was some sort of general store display but not for cylinders. I would think if it turned too fast the cylinders would fly out.

Well then don't spin it that fast. The machine and horn would probably fling off too at some point if you got too rough with it.

My take is that it was a cabinet purpose built for exactly what it's being used for today, cylinder record storage. I do not however think it was factory produced but instead, a very nicely made one-off piece. Very cool!

Pete
think of it this way, its a nice, decorative cabinet!, i would buy it if it turned up on my doorstep, it serves its purpose and it was good enough to fool some people on this forum (i thought it was original when i saw it) its nice and if you like it you should put an offer in for it!

I agree with Alex. I think it is a very interesting cabinet and we've had wonderful conversation talking about its purpose. I would be proud to own it. Has anyone had problems storing Blue Amberols on their sides? Jerry Blais
