Help! Columbia Harmony No. 2 for sale!

Post by JamesJW »

Hello all, I am new to the forum so pardon any mistakes I may make. I have a 1930-1940 Columbia Harmony No. 2 portable for sale. Its actually up on ebay right now. Its in pretty good shape, but could use a good cleaning. I
I picked it up a few weeks ago, but im not much of a portable guy and I could use the $$$ on a Grafonola Favorite ive been eyeballing. I cant find any info at all online about it, so im up for offers on it as I know I paid too much. Thanks guys!

Without a link to your auction or knowing how much you paid it is hard to help.

In general, doing the research before you list is a good idea.

Oooookaaayyy....thats why I had it listed here because I know nothing about it and maybe someone who does would appreciate it. I bought it for $120. Ive seen similar models like the No. 3 and No. 9 go for $180 in great shape, but I just cant find ANYTHING on the No. 2. Ill do my best to get the listing up, but im sure if someone is interested, just email me and we can talk.

Seems like a pretty fair price, as long as everything is in good order. How does it sound?

It sounds pretty good, just as loud as a non portable. It has the aluminum reproducer in it, but does rattle slightly on those particularly loud passages. Has the single spring motor and other than being a little dirty, winds right up and plays everytime!

Looks to me like a decent machine for the price. I love that it is all blue. :)
