Looks to me like they installed a stereo speaker (perhaps a sub woofer) in the storage area. The add mentions that there are enough parts to constitute a full machine so they probably had two.

I think that Brad is almost definitely correct in asserting that someone installed a speaker in the storage area. Perhaps they also installed a more modern turntable, which would explain the comment about making a working phonograph.
I’d be curious to see a photo of the turntable, to see how well it was converted (if I’m right in guessing that it was), but not quite curious enough to call the seller. Too bad they didn’t list an e-mail address.
