Almost $2400.00 for one of these Victor pre-dog 10" records.....

???. OK, I know they were made for a very short time but.......

Mine all say VICTOR MONARCH but are basicly the same Eldridge Johnson, etc. etc. Why so much?

I, too was surprised. Pre-Dog records are scarce, but by no means very rare. I was surprised to see the buyer was not a newbie either.

looking at The Collector's Guide to Victor Records, this was pressed in January 1901 and this particular label was only used for 16 titles. Very rare indeed. This particular title is used in the example in the book.

(I realize now that the auction says something to this effect regarding the rarity of the record)
