Standard E

Post by dutchman »

Got this little machine off Ebay - plays great. It was advertised sans crank (which usually means the motor is shot or seller is unable to check because the crank is missing.) I jury rigged the crank off my Standard A with some washers and it slowed down near the end of the record. A good lube on the motor and it works great. Got a crank from George V. The E crank is a bit longer than the A or not threaded as deep. The machine looked neat and priced right, just could not resist it. The case is nice other than the minor cracks on the side edge which do not affect the top veneer, they merely add character.

Love these off-brands as you already know. I have the same machine but different grille work. Records are easy to come by also. Your example is very nice looking and well cared for.

I love those client machines as well. I really like how the little pillars used in the grill. It gives a rather plain machine a touch of class. Nice find.
