1927 Orthophonic Booklet

Here is a neat little one sheet (bi-folded) booklet I found with some papers. Anyone seen this before??. This one came from the "Victrola Shop LTD" in Vancouver.

. But seriously. I would think many customers that had just bought the
"latest" maybe even less than a year before were very upset. However, I'm sure they were given a great deal on the pre-Orthophonics. The dealers would have wanted to clear them out "before" the change over.

I wonder how Berliner here in Canada handled this with his dealers. He held a very tight rein on the selling prices set. I have read that when a Berliner dealer here in Vancouver was forced(due to slow sales)to lower the MSRP and was black listed by Berliner. To the point that the dealer was not even able to sell the stock he had!!! .

I'm sure it was similar to the more modern version of 'I just bought an iphone 4S and
it's the best th.... wait, when did the iphone 5 come out!?!?!?

That is what this leaflet talks about- though I suspect the discount was only a fraction of what you might have paid for a fairly recent Victor.

That booklet might just be a Canadian product rather than a reprint from Camden for the Canadian market. Note the Canadian His Master's Voice logo. The Montreal advertising department produced a fair amount of Canadian advertising materials.

Although clearly a Canadian piece. You would think there would be far more reference to this printed all over it. Not just a dealers "rubber stamp" and in very small print in the HMV logo.... "copyrighted Canada 1900 by Emile Berliner".
