I was able to get some funds together and looking for a nice horn machine.
Jerry B. recommended that I would look into clean Vic III.
I was wondering if anyone can post some pics of their restored machine, so I would know what to look for
Kind Regards,
Jay

Re: Question about Victor III
Jay,
I would go look at the Ebay Vic III in person. The pictures posted are terrible. The nameplate condition doesn't match the case condition. The tone arm looks like it has much nickle plating missing and the horn's flare appears to have dents all over it.
My advice is to go to one of the many phonograph shows during the year and you should be able to find a real nice example and have experts around to take looks also.

Re: Question about Victor III
Just to add to Steve's observations.....the case seems to have been refinished and the crank handle and maybe the whole crank appears incorrect. However, as Steve wrote "the pictures posted are terrible". The lighting from the lamp behind the machine casts a yellow hue on the whole machine.Andersun wrote:Jay,

Best advice a collector can give a person......be patient in your search for a nice machine at a fair price. Victor 3's do come up for sale often.

Re: Question about Victor III
Here is a picture of my Vic III, its not restored and needs a little work and I think my horn elbow was cast and made in someones garage? LoL... Anyways I picked mine up on craigs list for a decent price and should be a nice little machine with a little TLC. Like the others are saying keep your eyes open and don't feel rushed to buy the first machine you come across.

Thank you every one for your input.
I just want to get a feeling, what a nice machine should be like, and what would be a fair price for it.
Since, I'm very new to a hobby , I'm trying to learn as much as I can and understand, what I should be looking for.
What about this guy ? :

Now that is a much finer example!JayL wrote: What about this guy ?
A few years ago, I bought a machine from that seller through Ebay and everything was as described.

what do you think, in your experience, would be an appropriate amount to offer what such a machine ?

I'm strictly and Edison collector and have not been following Victor prices. I think someone else here can guide you better on that.

Hi Jay, I have a real nice Vic 111 with the original oak horn I would sell. Here's some pics. Thanks, Mike 520 256-5073 Tucson,AZ
